Animal parks are continually amongst the most popular visitor attractions in Great Britain. Almost every county has at least one zoo or safari park. Fortunately, most of them now work closely with conservation groups and the animals are wonderfully cared for. It's very difficult to agree on which British animal park is best but here are some of our favourites:

Paradise Wildlife Park, Broxbourne

Paradise Wildlife Park is one of Hertfordshire's best attractions where you can get up close and personal with some of the world's most amazing animals. Admission to the zoo is £10 for adults and £7 for children from 9.30am to 6pm. From November through to February the animal park opens at 10am and closes at 5pm. London Zoo, Regent’s Park

London Zoo is fantastic animal park, set in the heart of our capital city. The zoo boasts an impressive selection of animals, most of which live in their own spectacular manmade habitats. Entry to the zoo is currently £13 for adults and £9.75 for the kids every day from 10am till 5.30pm. In the winter months doors close a little earlier at 4pm. Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh

Edinburgh zoo is one of the finest animal centres in the world with over a thousand residents ranging from lions and tigers to penguins to monkeys. Entry to the zoo is £8.50 for adults and £5.50 for the kids from 9am till 6pm every day of the week. In the winter months the zoo closes a little earlier at 4.30pm. Days out in Central Scotland

Flamingo Land, Malton

Flamingo Land is an exciting mix of wild animals including tigers, monkeys and of course flamingos. And if that was not enough you can also take a ride on the zoo’s many roller coasters. Things to do in Yorkshire

Woburn Safari Park, Woburn

Woburn is a world famous safari park with every species of animal you could wish to see. Highly recommended. Admission is £14.50 for adults and £11.50 for children from 10am to 5pm in March to October. During the rest of the year the park only opens at the weekends. Things to do in Bedfordshire

Chester Zoo, Upton-by-Chester

Undoubtedly one of the biggest and best zoos in the United Kingdom. Chester animal park contains nearly 8000 animals as well as stunning gardens. Colchester Zoo, Colchester

Colchester Zoo is has all your other favourite animals including a great collection of wild cats. Admission is currently £13.99 for adults and £7.50 for children and the zoo is open every day from from 9.30 every day of the year except Christmas Day. Knowsley Safari Park, Prescot

Knowsley Safari Park is one of the North West's most popular visitor attractions amongst kids and adults alike. The five mile long drive takes you passed everything from lions to elephants. Admission is £9 for adults and £6 for the kids every day from 10am till 4pm. In the winter months the park close an hour earlier at 3pm. Skegness Seal Sanctuary, Skegness

A wonderful day out for all the family, Skegness Seal Sanctuary is perhaps the best loved attraction in Lincolnshire. As well as seals, you can see penguins, reptiles and a variety of exotic birds. Admission is £4.95 for adults and £3.25 for children from 10am to 5pm in in June through September and 10am to 4pm in October through to March. Things to do in Lincolnshire

Whipsnade Animal Park, Dunstable

Whipsnade is one of the most popular attractions in the whole of England. 2,500 animals roaming around over 600 acres of beautiful Bedfordshire - animal parks don't get much better. Admission is £14.50 for adults and £11 for children every day from 10am to 6pm. In October the park closes at 5pm and during the rest of the winter doors close at 4pm. Monkey World, Wareham

Nearly 200 primates can be admired at Monkey World with everything from chimps to orangutans on show. And should the kids get bored there is also the huge adventure playground to amuse them. Sealife and Marine Sanctuary, Oban

This fantastic wildlife site has over thirty different marine habitats with everything from sharks to shrimps. However, the stars of the show are the lovely seals. Days out in Northern Scotland

Blue Reef Aquarium, Tynemouth

Blue Reef Aquarium is one of the best underwater attractions England with a huge ocean display and the obligatory walk through tunnel. Admission is £5.50 for adults and £3.75 for children every day from 10am to 5pm. The aquarium closes an hour earlier at 4pm in the winter.
