The largest county in England, Yorkshire is a land of contrasts with baron moorlands, bustling cities and beautiful coastline. But what else does the county have to offer? In no particular order, here are our suggestions for things to do in Yorkshire :

Flamingo Land, Malton

An exciting mix of wild animals including tigers, monkeys and of course flamingos. And if that was not enough you can also take a ride on the zoo’s many roller coasters. Bolton Abbey, Skipton

Harewood House, Leeds

As well as a beautiful house and stunning gardens, Harewood is also one of the England’s biggest aviaries with over a hundred rare birds on show. National Railway Museum, York

Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds

The home of the nation’s arms, the museum is a must for all military enthusiasts. So many displays covering so many periods of history – you could spend all day here and not see everything. National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, Bradford

Very popular museum with literally millions of items on display. It makes a real change from paintings and sculptures. The museum is free for everyone and is open all year from Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 6pm. For further details phone 0870 7010200 or visit www.nmpft.org.uk
