If you like history and sightseeing then few cities come close to Rome. So many places to go and things to see, it's one of the few places where you genuinely wont have trouble filling your days.

May not be for everyone but if you like entertainment, sunshine and having fun then you cannot beat the real city that does not sleep.

Has everything you could possibly want in a city and the weather isn't too bad either. It's a long way to go but very few who make the journey have any regrets.

9. Venice
What it lacks in size and activities, it more than make up for in spirit, romance and uniqueness. There's no place on earth quite like it and as long as you your 'e prepared to splash the cash you will not be disappointed.

10. Cape Town
Should really be higher up the list because this jewel in the African crown is faultless - spectacular scenery, wonderful people, fantastic service and once you get there it is surprisingly inexpensive.
