| Choose a county | by Molly Davidson The metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear is made up of the five distinct areas of Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. The landscape is dominated by two main rivers the Tyne and the Wear, where the region derives its name. The county has recently become one of the most exciting places to visit in England with Newcastle seemingly getting better year after year. Here are some suggestions for a great day out in Tyne and Wear: Blue Reef Aquarium, Tynemouth
