Sicily is one of the most beautiful islands in Europe if not the world. This Italian treasure has some of the best scenery in the Mediterranean plus a wide variety of things to see and do. In no particular order, here are our suggestions for things to do in and attractions in Sicily:

Palazzo Reale

Cathedral, Monreale

This 12th century cathedral, is one of the most popular attractions on the island of Sicily. Located just 6 miles south of Palermo, the stunning building is adorned with spectacular mosaics and glorious bronze doors. Climb up the tower to the roof for an amazing view of the coast and the countryside.

Museo Archeologico Regionale

The Archaeological Museum houses a wide range of objects and exhibits from the fifth century BC onwards. With all the great periods in history covered, from Roman mosaics to Etruscan art, this highly recommended museum is a great lesson in Sicily's rich and diverse past. A cultural delight.

Ustica

Ustica is an underwater natural park, offering crystal-clear seas, a maze of caves and so much more. Take a glass-bottomed boat to fully appreciate the underwater beauty. The park is best reached is by a 90-minute hydrofoil from Palermo. A fabulous tourist attraction for all the family.

More city attractions

If you're not much of a sun lover, why not take a short break to Iceland or Finland. There are dozens of things to do in Helsinki and the tourist attractions in Reykjavik will leave you speechless.

For a great city just across the Channel, the Netherlands is the place to go. The incredibly diverse attractions of Amsterdam very rarely disappoint.

And finally, if it's excitement you're seeking, then the desert is the place to be. Either take in the bright lights and attractions in Las Vegas or enjoy the ever increasingly list of things to do in Dubai.
