However, the county is also packed full of historic towns, ancient buildings and wonderful woodland, including of course Sherwood Forest. Sherwood Forest, nr Mansfield No trip to Nottingham, would be complete without exploring Sherwood Forest. Follow in the footsteps of Kings and outlaws as you walk through the most famous woods in the world. Admission to the visitor centre is free and it opens from 10am to 5pm. Newark Air Museum, Newark Newark Air Museum contains a diverse collection or airplanes and helicopters. There are also displays dealing with aircraft weaponry from the past and present. Entry to the museum is currently £5.25 for adults and £3.50 for the kids every day from 10am till 5pm. In the winter the museum close a little earlier at 4pm.
