| Choose a county | by Paula May Little over an hours drive from London, Essex is a contrast of bustling towns such as Colchester and Southend with beautiful English countryside and coastline. But what else does the county have to offer? In no particular order, here are our suggestions for things to do in Essex: Colchester Zoo, Colchester
Tilbury Fort, Tilbury Impressive 17th century fort which is still in remarkably good condition. Admission is £3.20 for adults and £1.60 for children and the fort is open daily from 10am to 6pm although it does close a little earlier in the winter months. Mole Hall Wildlife Park, Saffron Walden Relaxing animal park with a good collection of birds, monkeys and much more. Entry to the park is currently £5.50 for adults and £3.80 for the kids from 10:30am till dusk every day from Easter through to October.
