Derby’s packs an incredible amount of activities and attractions in it's compact city centre. Great museums, historical buildings and an ever growing number of shops and restaurants - Derby is a great city to visit. In no particular order, here are our suggestions for things to do in Derby:

Kedleston Hall

Kedleston Hall is a stunning neo-classical mansion built between 1759-65 for the Curzon family. Boasting a series of magnificent state rooms, Kedleston is one of the most visited attractions in Derbyshire. The parkland surrounding the Hall are equally impressive with five lakes, classical lodges and a fishing pavilion. Telephone 01332 842191 for further details.

Calke Abbey

Calke Abbey is a fantastic early 18th century baroque mansion set in a stunning landscape park. The house is essentially unchanged since the 1880s and the attractive grounds feature a beautiful walled garden. There are also lovely Portland sheep in the park. For more information call 01332 863822.

Derby Cathedral

Derby Cathedral offers a fascinating historical insight in to the city's long and illustrious past. Highlights include The Bakewell Screen, St Katharine's Chapel and Joseph Wright's tombstone.
