Support and encouragement for your partner is one of the fundamental requirements of a long, happy marriage.

A marriage is a partnership and each party needs to be there for the other.

We all need support at some times in our lives, and if we can't get it from our spouse then there is something seriously wrong.

It is also important to recognize when your support and encouragement is needed before you are asked for it. Because by that time, it will probably be too late to have a significant effect.
