Swimming pools are not cheap. They're not cheap to build, and they're not cheap to run. But think of the fun you'll have!
The costs of maintaining a home swimming pool depend on it's size, complexity, whether it has a cover, and how much of the work you do yourself.
As a rough estimate, expect to pay around £500 to heat and maintain your swimming pool. This comprises approximately £200 for water treatment, £200 for heating, and around £100 for cleaning.
However, this figure can easily double or treble, if you have anything other than than the smallest and simplest of pools, or if you aren't frugal with the heating.
As well as annual running costs, it's worth remembering that swimming pools don't last forever. From time to time, they do require maintenance which can be expensive.
For example, if you have a pool made with lining you will be need to be replace the material at least every 10 years. This will cost several thousand pounds.
