Weeds, weeds, weeds - to the amateur gardener there is nothing worse. You pull them out and they just grow right back. But before you can even get to that stage you have to know what is a weed and what isn't. Those sneaky little so and so's have a habit of looking like actual plants - talk about intelligent plant life! Anyway, here's a list of the most common weeds in the UK so you can get out in your garden and turn out their lights.

1. Dandelion

This common weed can be identified by it's long, jagged leaves and yellow flower. The flower head comprises a ball of seeds surrounded by thin, feather-like petals.

2. Nettle

This stinging pest has tall stems and heart shaped leaves. It's the loving leaves that provide an ironic sting. During the summer months the nettle will develop green thread like flowers.

3. Bindweed

As its name may suggest, this little devil grows by twisting its stem as it climbs. The bindweed's leaves are predominately triangular or heart shaped. In the summer it produces funnel-like flowers.
