Leatherjacket

This brown larvae can grow well over an inch in length. Although they will eat seeds and vegetables, they do the most damage to lawns. When buying insecticides for these shapeless pests make sure you buy a brand that is effective against all types of leatherjacket.

Whitefly

These tiny, white, winged pests are particularly common in greenhouses and on houseplants. You can use insecticides on whitefly, but they quickly develop an immunity to any chemical. It's important to act as soon as you see this fly because if you give them time to multiply your chances of getting rid of them are almost zero.

Caterpillars

As children we find caterpillars fascinating. As gardeners we find them nothing but a pest. The most common variety will feed on the leaves of most plants but some species will go straight for the root. Besides picking them off one by one, your most effective weapon once again comes out of a bottle.
