The recovery period from Lasik eye surgery is relatively quick with most patients resuming normal activities after two or three days. This compares favourably with other forms of laser eye treatment were the recovery time can be well over a week.

Immediately after Lasik eye treatment, you may experience a range of minor symptoms such as dry eyes, sensitivity to lights, and the presence of halos. Your eyesight may also fluctuate slightly which can cause dizziness in some people.

In most cases, such side effects subside a few days after the procedure. Some people may experience very few issues at all.

However, in a small number of instances, side effects can continue for many weeks and months after lasik eye surgery. Indeed, a handful of patients will be left with problems for the rest of their lives. Some of these complaints can be effectively addressed through medication or further surgery, but others are untreatable.

The recovery period after lasik treatment can be longer for older patients. People in their late thirties or over may have trouble reading for a few days after lasik treatment for myopia. Reading glasses may be prescribed, sometimes for several months.

It's important to realise that although your eyes might feel fine a few days after Lasik treatment, they may still be healing. Follow-up appointments are essential to check your eyes for early signs of complications such as an infections or epithelial ingrowth (where cells grow between the flap and the stroma during healing process). Early treatment can rectify most problems fairly easily.
