People from all walks of life suffer from depression. Money, fame or power don't make you immune from the condition.

A huge number of celebrities and famous people have admitted suffering from depression. And for every celebrity who has come forward about their depression, there will be many more who have suffered in private.

Famous actors and actresses who have experienced depression include Ashley Judd, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson, Harrison Ford, and Jim Carrey. Heath Ledger, who died from an accidental drug overdose, also suffered from the condition.

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling revealed that she had once been so depressed that she contemplated suicide. And of course, Princess Diana had long term struggles with depression and eating disorders before her untimely death in 1997.
