Just as certain haircuts suit certain face shapes, the same applies to earings.

Women with rounded faces can help lengthen and slim down their facial appearance by wearing long, thin earings.

Anything that resembles the curvature of the face such as circular earings should be avoided.

However, if you have a long or particularly skinny face, then the opposite applies - rounded earings are good and thin, lengthy earings are bad.
