Thomas John Patrick Welling was born in New York on April 26th 1977. He graduated from Okemos High School in Michigan before deciding to purse a career in modeling. After several successful campaigns, he soon recognized the limitations of being a male clothes horse and turned his attention to acting.

Almost immediately, he was offered the role of Clark Kent in a new television series about Superman's teenage years. The show was named Smallville and it proved to be an instant ratings winner. Tom became one of the biggest stars on American television overnight.

Since then, Tom has appeared in the movies Cheaper By The Dozen (2003) and The Fog (2005), as well as another four seasons of the superhero television show.
