Adam Woodyatt signs new Eastenders deal

Monday 30th April 2007

EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt has signed a new contract with the BBC soap believed to be worth £320,000 a year.

The actor, who plays Ian Beale in the long running soap, will now stay on Albert Square for at least another year.

The news comes shortly after considerable speculation in the press that Ian would be would be killed off in the coming months.

An Eastenders source said:

"Adam is the last man standing from the starting lineup and there's always the possibility that he might go and do something else after 22 years in Albert Square."

"However, he's got some brilliant storylines coming up and he's decided now is not the time for a departure. Everyone is thrilled he's staying."
