Simon Cowell Biography

Simon Phillip Cowell was born in Brighton, England on October 7th 1959. After leaving school at sixteen, he got a job in the mail room at EMI Music Publishing. Over the next twenty years he gradually worked his way up through the music industry until he became a music producer.

Since then he has achieved sales of over 25 million albums with a variety of acts from Robson and Jerome to The Teletubbies. He has been responsible for an amazing seventeen number 1 singles.

However, Simon's wealth and fame were soon to skyrocket when in 2001 he became a judge on a new musical talent show called Pop Idol. Simon's brutally honest comments made him the star of the programme and also one of the biggest celebrities in the UK.

The following year Simon was unleashed on the U.S.A. when he appeared in American Idol. The US audiences went crazy for the the rude limey and Simon was an overnight sensation.
