| Robbie Williams Biography
Robert Peter Maximillian Williams was born in Stoke On Trent, England on February 13th 1974. After showing a flair for entertaining as a boy, he auditioned for a part in a new boy band when he was sixteen. He was accepted, the band became Take That and Robbie was on his way to stardom.
After a shaky start, Take That quickly became the biggest pop band in Britain selling millions of albums and racking up countess number one singles. However, in 1995 Robbie decided he'd had enough of the sugar coated group and quit the band to start a solo career.
Most people expected Robbie to crash and burn as a solo artist, and they looked to be right when his initial efforts were poorly received. However, everything changed with the release of the single Angels from his album Life Thru A Lens. The song became an anthem and Robbie was flying.
Since then Robbie has established himself as the biggest solo artist in the UK with massive selling albums Swing When You're Winning and Sing When You're Winning. He is such a valuable commodity that EMI offended him new contract in 2002 worth an astonishing £80m. |
