Matthew Paige Damon was born in Massachusetts, USA on October 8th 1970. He made his screen debut with a small role in Mystic Pizza (1988) opposite Julia Roberts. He followed that with appearances in movies such as School Ties (1992), Geronimo: An American Legend (1993) and Courage Under Fire (1996).

However, in 1997 his career really began to take off when the screenplay he'd been writing with friend Ben Affleck was made into a feature film with the two in lead roles. Good Will Hunting was a critical and financial success winning Matt and Ben Academy Awards for their screenplay.

Since then Matt has established himself as one of Hollywood's best young actors with roles in movies such as The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Ocean's Eleven (2001) and The Bourne Identity (2002).
