Julian Dana William McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia on July 27th 1968. He studied law at the University of Sydney but dropped out after just one year to become a male model. After a series of high profile commercials he made the jump to acting in the television series The Power, The Passion (1989).

Julian then starred in another Australian soap opera, Home and Away for two years as character Ben Lucini. After leaving Summer Bay, he moved to American to try to become a movie star. Unfortunately, things didn't go as well as he hoped. Over the next ten years Julian only made handful of films, almost all of them being instantly forgettable.

His luck changed in 2000 when he was cast in the successful television series Charmed. His three years on this popular show as Cole Turner was just the platform he needed to show off his considerable acting talent and screen presence.

Indeed, as a direct result of the show, he was offered the lead role in a new plastic surgery drama series to be called Nip/Tuck. Julian accepted the part of morally corrupt Christian Troy and the show became a huge success. Julian was suddenly one of the hottest actors in Hollywood after years and years of trying.
