| Jamie Foxx Biography Eric Morlon Bishop, or Jamie Foxx as he's known today, was born in Texas, USA on December 13th 1967. He studied music in college but had a keen interest in all aspects of performance and entertainment. In 1989, during a trip to the Comedy Club, one of his friends challenged him to get up on stage and tell a few jokes. Jamie did so and that was the humble beginnings of his career.
He made his foray into television in 1991 with the comedy series Roc and then In Living Color. This led to his own television show The Jamie Foxx Show (1996) and several movie offers. From 1996 to 2003 he appeared in ten films, with highlights including Any Given Sunday (1999) and the Mohammad Ali movie Ali (2001).
2004 was to be a momentous year for Jamie with roles in the acclaimed Michael Mann thriller Collateral and his career defining performance as legendary musician Ray Charles in the movie Ray. His portrayal of the blind singer won Jamie his first Academy Award. It probably wont be his last.
