Hugh Jackman Biography

Hugh Michael Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia on October 12th 1968. After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Technology Sydney, he decided to become an actor and joined the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. His decision was immediately rewarded when he was cast in the television drama Correlli (1995). Not only did this give Hugh his first taste of screen acting, it also introduced him to his future wife, Deborah-Lee Furness, who was starring in the show.

In the five years that followed, Hugh made a handful of appearances in mainly Australian television shows and movies, the highlight being Paperback Hero (1999). However, in 2000 his life would change forever when he was cast as Wolverine in the movie adaptation of the classic comic story X-Men. The film was phenomenally successful and Hugh became an instant international star.

Since then Hugh has appeared in movies such as Swordfish (2001), Someone Like You (2001) and Van Helsing (2004), and is now arguably one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
