| Hugh Grant Biography Hugh John Mungo Grant was born in London, England on September 9th 1960. He studied at New College, Oxford with a view to a career as an art historian. However, he soon decided to try his hand at something a little more exciting, acting.
He made his screen debut in the movie Privileged (1982) and over the next twelve years appeared in twenty movies including Maurice (1987), Bitter Moon (1992) and The Remains of the Day (1993).
In 1994 Hugh was transformed from unknown English actor to international movie star when Four Weddings And A Funeral became a huge success all over the world. Hugh was finally on his way to fame and fortune. However, in 1995 his world came crashing down when he was arrested for lewd conduct in Los Angeles.
This would have finished many an actor but Hugh adopted a typically English stiff upper lip and refused to hide away in a corner. Although his career did stall with disappointing movies Nine Months (1995) and Extreme Measures (1996) it wasn't long before he was back in the big time.
His ability to choose the right project led to a series of hugely successful movies from Notting Hill (1999) to Love Actually (2003). Amazingly, Hugh's now even bigger than he was before that infamous night in downtown Los Angeles. |
