The hospital drama series Holby City is to give birth to a new spin off police show.
The BBC has revealed that Eastenders writer, Tony Jordan, has been hired to work on scripts for the programme which is believed to be called Holby Blue.
BBC bosses are hoping the new show can rival to rival ITV's popular police drama The Bill.
Executives at the channel are hoping to cash in on Holby City's fan base by intertwining story lines and characters.
Holby City itself began life as a spin-off from the series Casualty in 1999. The hospital series has proved tremendously successful, now into it's eight series.
The new show, Holby Blue, is expected to debut on BBC1 in early 2007. No casting decisions have yet been made.
