Gordon Ramsay Biography

Gordon James Ramsay was born on November 8th 1966 in
Glasgow, Scotland. As a boy he dreamt of becoming a a professional football player, and for a short period, those dreams can true. From 1982 to 1985 he played for Scottish soccer giants Glasgow Rangers.

However, Gordon soon realized that football wasn't the career for him and decided to quit the game and turn his attention to his nother great love, cooking, He studied for an HND in Hotel Management from North Oxon Technical College in 1987, and then set about becoming a chef.

After several placements, Gordon found his way to Marco Pierre White's restaurant Harvey's in 1989. His two years there, along with his time with Albert Roux at La Gavroche helped him develop into one of the most promising chefs in the country.

Shortly afterwards he opened his own restaurant Aubergine which proved incredibly successful receiving Michelin stars in 1995 and 1997. Since then Gordon has set up a series of award winning restaurants including Petrus and Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's.

In 2002 Gordon's cooking talent and media friendly image took him from the kitchen to the television. In just a few years, he has become one of the most famous men in Britain through programmes such as Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (2004), Hell's Kitchen (2004) and The F Word (2005).

In 2006, Gordon Ramsey was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to the culinary world.
