Beautiful EastEnders star Petra Letang has revealed that tongues were used during her on-screen kiss with Natalie Cassidy.
The 26-year-old's character Naomi Julien finally locked lips with Sonia Fowler after a long soap style build up.
But the two actresses didn't shy away from their all female snog. Petra is quoted as saying "We just went for it. If you look closely, you might see a brief slip of the tongue!”
It's the first gay kiss to appear on Albert Square, although most other soaps have featured similar story lines.
Natalie Cassidy is pleased to be involved in the soap’s lesbian
plotline but hopes viewers will see beyond the surface of the story.
She said, “What I love about this plot is that it isn’t
just sensationalism. People will see it that way, of course, but
it’s not just about the lesbian thing. It simply doesn’t
matter whether Sonia wants to be with a man or a woman - you can’t
choose who you fall in love with."
