Former Albert Square star Jessie Wallace has been signed up to star as an Eliza Dolittle type character in a new BBC drama to be called A Class Apart.
The popular actress, who memorably played Kat Slater in Eastenders, will take the role of a cleaner at an upper class school, who falls in love with the well to do headmaster.
BBC drama chief John Yorke is very excited by Jesse's performance and is currently working with the former soap star on several other projects.
He told one Scottish newspaper “She has the range we are only starting to tap into. I wanted to do something to make sure people knew that she was not just Kat.”.
