David Walliams (or David Williams to give him his real name) was born in Surrey, England on August 20th 1971. His father, Peter, worked for London Transport and his mother, Kathleen, was a laboratory technician. He attended Reigate Grammar school in Surrey before going on to study Drama at Bristol University.

After graduating he attended the National Youth Theatre where he met his comedy partner Matt Lucas. After various individual projects the double act decided to combine their talents and the result was the show Rock Profile (1999). The spoof music series wasn't a huge success but it did develop a cult following which persuaded David and Matt to make another television show together. The result was Little Britain and the rest, as they say, is history.
