Former Coronation Street actress Lynne Perrie has died from a stroke, after suffering from ill health for several years.
Lynne played legendary Corrie character Ivy Tilsley for fifteen years from 1979 until 1994.
She will be sadly missed, and many of her friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the diminutive star.
Coronation Street actor Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, said
“The immediate memories that come to mind of Lynne were that she was very small but full of energy, very vital. You always knew when she was around. You could hear the voice, but you could also hear the laughter.”
Liz Dawn, who plays Vera Duckworth in the ITV soap, is quoted as saying: “She was always full of life and great fun to work with.”
Lyne died on Friday March 24th 2006 with her husband and son by her bedside. She was 75 years old.
