| Clive Owen Biography Clive Owen was born in Coventry, England on October 3rd 1964. He started acting at a young age performing in local theatre groups including an apparently memorable turn as the Artful Dodger in a production of Oliver!
After he left school, he studied for three years at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and then joined the Young Vic Theatre Company. It was here he met his wife Sarah-Jane Fenton during a production of Romeo and Juliet. Talk about romantic!
He made his screen debut in the movie Vroom (1988) but it has his role as Chancer in the television series of the same name in 1990 that propelled him to fame. However, many believe his next role in the movie Close My Eyes (1991), where he played a brother who has an incestuous relationship with his older sister. severely damaged his career.
In the next seven years Clive appeared in several movies and television series but they were largely instantly forgettable. His career was in danger of slipping away when acclaimed director Mike Hodges cast him in the lead role of his new movie Croupier (1998). Clive's assured performance reminded the world what an accomplished actor he was. It was just the kick start he needed.
Clive's career began to move forward with excellent performances in Second Sight (2000), Gosford Park (2001) and The Bourne Identity (2002). He was then cast as the lead in King Arthur (2004) and followed that with roles in acclaimed movies Closer (2004) and Sin City (2005).
