One time Casualty actor Jason Merrells is set to star in a major new BBC drama called Waterloo Road which starts on Thursday 9th March.
Jason, who played Matt Hawley (1994-1997) in the long running medical series, takes the role of Jack Rimmer in the forthcoming eight-part drama. His character is the recently promoted head teacher of a flagging comprehensive school who is under pressure to turn its fortunes around.
Waterloo Road also stars Jill Halfpenny, Denise Welch and David Crellin, as well as former Holby City actress Angela Griffin. Angela played Jasmine Hopkins in the Casualty spin off from 1999 to 2002.
Since leaving Casualty in 1997, Jason Merrells has appeared in several high profile television dramas including Cutting It, Queer as Folk and Clocking Off.
