Arthur Fowler is coming to Sun Hill. Bill Treacher, who played the legendary Eastenders character, has agreed to appear in four episodes of ITV series The Bill.
Bill's appearance is largely thanks to The Bill producer Alison Davis who used to work with the popular actor on Eastenders. Alison sent him a selection of scripts and offered him a part. Bill liked what he read and duly accepted.
Bill will play Morris Leathhead, Smithy's cell mate in Longmarsh Prison. The former Albert Square star helps the incarcerated policeman learn the ropes.
Bill is delighted with the role, saying "I've been approached to do lots of things, even The Bill before now, but I really wasn't interested. EastEnders was pretty heavy going and I felt I'd had enough. But I like Alison very much so I was happy to accept. My wife also encouraged me to do it. I don't watch much television but she watches The Bill and told me that the story-lines were very good. She said it would be good for me to do it but I think she just wanted me out from under her feet!"
