by Jennifer Mann It's all very well planning to workout more but actually doing it is another matter. Motivation can be as hard to find as a bargain in Harrods. We will make all kinds of excuses for not exercising - not feeling 100%, busy with something else, I'll do a double workout next time. The real reason is most of us don't particularly like working out. But this needn't be the case. There are ways to make your workout more enjoyable and maintain your motivation. Try them and hopefully those excuses will fly out the window. Make your workout enjoyable Even the most committed person can become bored with the same exercise routine day after day. week after week. Whenever you feel stale, change your workout. If you usually jog, try cycling instead. If you usually swim, try using the gym. If your friends workout why not exercise together. This will stop the boredom setting in and a workout buddy if often the greatest motivational tool you can ever have. You should also try to watch television or listen to music while you exercise. This will make the time pass much quicker and you really will be finished before you know it. Reward yourself Exercising can sometimes be as enjoyable as dieting. It can seem like a huge amount of effort for very little result. It's therefore important to try to stay motivated and one of the best ways to do this is to reward yourself. Whenever you meet one of your targets treat yourself to a day at a spa or buy a new outfit. This will ensure your spirits remain high and provide a great incentive to do well in the weeks to come. |
