How often should I do it?

Like most forms of exercise, you must perform pilates at least two or three times a week. Of course, any amount of exercise is good but you have to show real commitment to obtain noticeable results.

How do I start doing Pilates?

You can buy a Pilates book or video and teach yourself the basic moves, but the best idea is to attend a Pilates class at your local gym. Once you have been properly taught the correct exercise you can perform them at home if you wish. As you progress you may want to buy some of the home friendly equipment which can be found in any sports store.

The final thought

Pilates works - there's no question about it. However, it's essentially just another form of exercise. It's not a magical concept that can tone your stomach in a couple of weeks or make you noticeably leaner in a month. Like all fitness programs you have to do it for a sustained period to produce results. The advantage it has over many of it's rivals is that it can be enjoyable to perform.
