Slimfast is the world famous liquid meal replacement diet plan that has helped millions of women lose weight throughout the world. As well as shakes, the Slimfast brand now offers bars, snacks, packaged meals, and other dietary supplement foods. But does the eating plan work? Read on to find out more.

What does Slim Fast involve?
The Slimfast diet plan involves replacing two meals and snacks with low-calorie Slimfast products, thereby reducing total calorie intake. The diet plan advocates consuming between 1200 to 1500 calories each day to lose weight gradually and permanently. The Slimfast plan also recommends at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

Slimfast food and recipes
As well as their own specially designed products, the Slimfast diet comprises a healthy balanced eating plan with an eye on portion size and calorie content. It doesn't prohibit any foods but instead places a limit of the number of calories you should consume each day.

Exercise
The program encourages participants to engage in exercise and fitness activities as much as possible. The exercise helps you burn more calories than you consumes in a day, and therefore lose weight.

Practicality
Eating out when on the Slimfast diet will be very difficult unless you take a special meal with you. Alcohol and caffeine are generally not allowed. You will need to buy special food to follow the program. However, the plan is suitable for vegetarians.

Celebrity followers
The Slim Fast plan has been linked with a number of celebrities in the UK and the US such as Rod Stewart's former wife Rachel Hunter. However, many of these stars are paid spokespersons for the company so you have to question whether they actually lost weight with the product themselves.

Does Slimfast work?
Slim Fast has helped many women lose weight over both the short and long period. The combination of a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise at a sensible level is always the best way to shift those unwanted pounds permanently. The only problem with the Slimfast diet is that, after a while, the meal replacements can become a little tiresome.
