career: wrong job How to tell if you are in the wrong job |

Continued from page 1 Your job is pointless Many people feel their jobs serve no real purpose. Of course we can't all be doctors saving lives but what we spend most of our life doing should means something. The fact is every job does mean something otherwise it wouldn't be a job. For example you may think that being a lorry driver doesn't mean anything. But you try telling that to the recipient of the goods they deliver. The problem here is a psychological one. If you don't feel you job serves a purpose you need to look more closely. But if you still can't find a reason you clearly aren't interested in the purpose it serves. And if that's the case it may well be time to move on.Millions of us don't particularly like our boss. But there is a world of difference between dislike and hatred. There are some really nasty people in this world and many of them find themselves in a position of power. (or does the position of power make them that way?) If you feel this level of hatred every day it can begin to effect you performance and often consume not just your working day but your thought when you get home as well. If this is the case, you can either try to address the problem or you can move on. Sitting idle will only make you unhappier and unhappier. The Final Thought Millions of people in the UK aren't happy with their job. Sometimes circumstances prevent you from doing anything about it. But often we simply choose to accept it and before you know it ten years have past and you're still in the same situation. Work doesn't have to be boring or depressing. There is an ideal and realistic career out there for everyone. We just need to summon up the courage to go out and find it. |
