by Mary Ann Gregory We can't all be lucky enough to love the job we are in. Indeed most of us would be satisfied just not to hate what we do. Sadly many of us do just that. What's even worse is the vast majority of people just put up with it. There's almost always an alternative path we can take that still fits in with our lives and responsibilities. We only get one life so we have to get the most out of it. If you are in the wrong job the only way to do this is to move on. But how can you tell if you're in the wrong job? Hopefully this article can help you decide. Not enough money We would all like to be better paid. A few extra thousand pound a year can make all the difference. However sometimes people can feel undervalued to such an extent that it would make no difference. Sometimes people feel they aren't being rewarded enough for the amount of work they put in. Sometimes people feel they aren't being rewarded enough for the nature of the jon they are doing. Unfortunately, jobs are paid according to what society deems them to be worth. Often this is grossly unfair but there is precise little we can do about it apart from seek a career change. But if you are immensely dissatisfied this is probably exactly what you should do.
Some of us are content to do the same job every day fro the rest of our live. But most of us want to grow and develop at work. Not everyone is employed by a large company with limitless opportunities but almost all jobs have scope for progression. However, sometimes you can find yourself in a position where you aren't moving forward and it seems likely that you wont ever be. It this is the case you have to find out why. Doesn't your boss think you are capable? Are you not promoting yourself enough? if you can't get to where you want to go, it's time to move on to somewhere you can. |
