Continued from page 1 Switch off It is essential to be able to switch off from work, particularly for women. Being a mother, a wife or maintaining a home aren't things you can do when your mind is somewhere else. Yes, a balance is needed but sacrificing too much of your home life for your job can cause irrecoverable problems. Just as important as switching off from your work for your family, is switching off for yourself. Everybody needs a time out for themselves. You can't do this if you're thinking about work. Don't try to do everything yourself If you a working woman you may not have the time or energy to cook and clean for your family. Some superhuman females take this in their stride but for mere mortals it simply isn't possible. Your husband and your family have to contribute to the household tasks. It has to be a team effort and if they don't realise that you should tell them loud and clear. Don't sacrifice everything for your work Your work may be incredibly important to you but it's not more important than your husband and your family. Men have traditionally received immense criticism for seemingly putting their work first and having little time for anything else. However, working women have to be careful to not commit into the same mistake. You need to make time for your husband, your kids and yourself. If you don't you may be surprised how quickly cracks can begin to develop. Life is all about balance. For most working women this is especially so. Keeping a home, mothering children, attending to husbands - these can be full time jobs in themselves. But a working woman must find time for each of them as well as finding time for herself. The key is organization and communication You will be amazed how much you can do if you plan your time effectively. But even the soundest schedule wont work if you don't communicate properly with the people around you. Tell your husband you need help with the housework. Explain to your daughter why you'll miss her poetry recital. 'It's good to talk' may be a cliche but that doesn't make it any less true. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
