The many advantages of your job

Work - it has good points as well

Almost all of us would love to not have to go to work. Wouldn't it be great to just do whatever you want. No more early rises. No more daily commutes. No more stress or pressure. It's certainly an appealing thought but remember a job has positive aspects as well. Of course there is the money, but there are also other less obvious points you may not have considered:

- it's a great place to make friends. Many of our strongest friendships are formed at work.

- it improves your intelligence. Your brain needs to be used and exercised like every other muscle in the body. A regular job is the best workout you can give it.

- it improves your self esteem. We all need to feel valued and as though we've contributed to something. A successful career is often the prime source of this precious human commodity.

- if you're single and looking for love, it's better than any bar or club. Nearly two thirds of people in the UK have had an office relationship. Of course not all of these have led to long term commitment but you have to buy a ticket to win.

- you can justify buying more clothes. A working woman needs twice as many clothes as a woman who doesn't have a job.

- it's just as good for your body as your brain. If you weren't at work, how many more snacks would you be eating during the day? If you walk to work, would you be getting that amount of exercise if you were at home?

- it's a gossip hotspot. The workplace is ten times better for scandal than any magazine or soap opera.
