More and more woman are choosing to work from home. It's the perfect solution combining a job with domestic responsibilities. The following are essential ten rules you should follow to make a success of your new career.

1. Plan your time - set yourself a number of hours each day or per week and stick to them.

2. Don't do any non-work activities such as housework during these hours.

3. Be professional - there's no need to wear a business suit but organisation and commitment are still imperative. For example set aside an area where you will work from and keep it tidy, clean and free from distractions.

4. Communicate with your family - make sure your family understands the new demands on your time.

5. Don't assume you can look after your children during your working hours. Remember you cannot have distractions during your working hours.

6. Don't work too much otherwise you may find your work taking over from the rest of your life.

7. Don't make personal phone calls or have friends over during your working hours.

8. Open a separate bank account to help you manage your business.

9. Use a separate phone line for all business matters.

10. Enjoy what you are doing - making money from the comfort of your own home!

The Final Thought

Working from home can be the answer to all your problems. However if you don't approach it in the correct manner it can be the start of a bunch of new ones. If you don't have focus and self control you may soon wish you were back in the office.
