| Choosing broadband - what's right for you |
Choosing the right broadband package depends on what you use the internet
for and for how long.
Internet users can be generally grouped into the following three categories:
Occasional Users
These are people who use the internet infrequently and predominately only
check email and visit websites.
For these individuals download speeds and download limits aren't incredibly
important.
Of course, it's best to have as fast a connection as possible and to
be able to download as much data as you like.
But there is no point paying for a top of the range service if you'll
never make use of it.
So if you fall into the occasional use category then the best advice
is to opt for a cheap broadband package.
Don't waste your money on a super connection - there are so many other
things to buy!
Medium Internet Users
Medium internet users will tend to use the internet on a daily basis mainly
for surfing, email use, and to occasionally download music or video clips.
For this group of individuals, download limits still won't be of great
concern because most broadband packages offer enough download capacity
for their needs.
However, medium internet users may be interested in purchasing a package
with a faster download speed for convenience (although there is still
no need for super-fast broadband).
For medium internet users, it may be worthwhile considering a combined
broadband/phone package to save you money.
Heavy Internet Users
Heavy internet users will use the internet for several hours each day
and download a considerable number of videos or music clips each week.
In this case, you need a product with a large download capacity, (at
least 5gb a month) or preferably one with an unlimited download capacity.
Similarly, download speed is of great importance because you don't want
to be waiting hours for downloads to complete.
Heavy internet users need as good a broadband package as they can afford.
