We would all like to have a manicurist at our beck and call. Wouldn't it be great to never have to worry about your nails again. Indeed, some women have done just that for years - men don't bother about their nails so why should we. However, for most of us our nails are just another part of our beauty regime. So to make that regime a little less demanding and a little more effective here are six quick tips to help look after your nails.

1. If you need your nails to dry in a second dip your hands into cold water for a second or two.

2. Don't file your nails after a bath because this is when they are most susceptible to splitting and breakage.

3. Try not to use acetone nail varnish remover as it sucks out all your natural moisture.

4. Try to limit your nails exposure to water as this is one of the main causes of weakness.

5. Never use a scrubbing brush to clean your nails - instead use a the sharp end of a cotton bud.

6. Always use hand cream after you wash your hands to help moisturize your fingers and nails.
