Although many age defying procedures can be carried out it doesn't necessary mean you should step onto the cosmetic surgery stairway. For every wrinkle it may get rid off there is a potential problem waiting to surface. Before you get out your cheque book you must remember the following:

- There is a danger that one procedure will lead to another. You may not be happy with your initial surgery so you want to put it right. Or you may be so happy with your initial surgery that you want to get other parts of your body done. This can be very damaging financially, physically and psychologically

- Cosmetic surgery is very expensive, particularly if you become addicted. Is this really the best way to spend you hard earned money?

- The outcome may not be perfect. Cosmetic surgery is not an exact science. Some face lifts are hugely better than other. This is why it's crucial to choose your surgeon carefully. You may end up wishing you hadn't gone for the cheapest option.

- Complications can occur. Almost all procedures can result in serious side effects.

- Many procedures are carried out under a general anesthetist. Although this is very safe there is still a small element of risk.
