All forms of plastic surgery carry some degree of risk. Side effects can develop and complications can arise. Unfortunately, rhinoplasty is not the exception to this rule.

The main potential complications of nose augmentation procedures include infection, heavy nose bleeds, a loss of sensation, and a loss of smell. Rhinoplasty can also adversely effect the patient's ability to breathe through her nose. In such instances, further surgery will be required.

But perhaps the biggest risk of nose reshaping is an undesirable result. Rhinoplasty is not an exact science. A great deal depends on the skill of the surgeon, and the degree of change he is attempting to bring about. In some cases, patients are even less happy with their new nose than they were before treatment.
